Per recent claims from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the presidential administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a source provided information indicating Maxwell is working on the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, stated in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to support her bid for executive mercy.

Specific details of the clemency request are unknown, Raskin added.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” private meetings for her and her visitors.

These meetings reportedly involve a designated private space for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which Raskin described as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, she was provided directions about who she should tell her contacts to call and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to the inmate, for her to examine and change and return them to the warden to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Reported

Further perks reportedly provided to her include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative added.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her previous prison.

In August, she was moved from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most detainees are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around Trump's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, the congressman also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and called on the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” Raskin wrote in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche attend a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether Trump had talked about a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, family or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a reply to the questions by the specified date.

In October, the nation's highest court declined to hear an petition from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
